ISLAMABAD - In response to recent floods in various parts of the country Pakistan Army and Pakistan Navy launched a rescue and flood relief operation in flood affected areas.

According to a statement of ISPR, during the whole day Pakistan Army rescued more that 368 persons who were who were trapped in flood water in Tarlai area near Khanna Bridge Islamabad.

Pakistan Army helicopters were used to rescue the people. Five more people were rescued in Jabbar Miana near Adiala, Rawalpindi. Army helicopters rescued 42 persons from Chontra, 113 from Christian Colony and 188 persons from Tarlai.

During the food relief operation , Pakistan Navy provided the food on Khanna-lehterrar Road (near Burma bridge area) to provide support to the flood affectees.

According to a statement released by Pakistan Navy stated that Pakistan Navy flood relief teams equipped with requisite gear and expertise including Zulu boats and specialist divers formed part in the rescue operation.

Pak Navy Rescue teams were also supported by medical staff to provide first aid at the spot.

Till filing of the report, PN flood relief teams, in coordination with civil administration, are continuously monitoring emerging flood situation to promptly respond to any emergency.

Pakistan Navy is deeply concerned about the devastation caused by recent floods and stand shoulder to shoulder with all national organisations in order to provide relief to people in the flood affected areas,the statement added.
