California  - Jessica Alba’s dad wanted a son so she acted like one growing up. To her fans, the actress appears to be a real girly-girl and is often snapped looking gorgeous at red carpet events and fashion shows.

However, the 33-year-old had to act as a substitute for a son until her younger brother Joshua came along. ‘I was my father’s first child and he actually wanted a boy,’ she laughed to German magazine Joy. ‘So he raised me like one! I was pretty w ild; I climbed trees and played out action scenes with my Barbies.’

Now Jessica and her husband Cash Warren have two daughters of their own - Honor, six, and three-year-old Haven. The girls are already showing signs of very different personalities. ‘Haven is pretty tough, like me. But Honor is a proper girl,’ she smiled. ‘I’m from a huge clan and am the oldest of 15 cousins. I got so much love in my family, I really wanted to pay that forward.’
