LAHORE - Former law minister advocate Rana Ijaz Ahmad on Wednesday served a legal notice on former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry claiming damages Rs 24 billion on the allegations of cheating the nation by way of taking oath under PCO (provisional constitutional order) and giving legitimacy to Musharraf’s rule.

Rana Ijaz says Justice Chaudhry, during his stint as chief justice, befooled people under the garb of independent judiciary and damaged the country’s image all over the world. Iftikhar Chaudhry took oath under PCO twice and supported Musharraf’s rule which was no way right, he adds.

Advocate Ijaz also says that he will move court of law if Justice Chaudhry fails to pay the damages within two weeks. The legal notice says that the amount of damages will be distributed among the IDPs (internally displaced persons).
