GUJRANWALA- The Education Department and Anti-Corruption Establishment have launched a joint investigation into the alleged irregularities being carried out in appointments of clerks in the education department.

According to official sources, a large number of citizens submitted complaints to Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, alleging that the EDO Education has recruited clerks in the department, in Gujranwala district, in violation of the merit policy. Responding to the complaints, the CM ordered the Punjab Education secretary (schools) and the ACE to probe the allegations and submitted the inquiry report at the earliest.

The provincial secretary assigned the director elementary education to probe the issue. On the other hand, Anti-Corruption deputy director Hassan Raza also summoned the EDO Education along with all relevant records on December 8.
