Rawalpindi - The Regional Police Officer (RPO), Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has directed for preparing a contingency security plan with coordination of other law enforcement agencies to guard the processions of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).

RPO also ordered police to launch massive crackdown against the hardcore criminals, proclaimed offenders and drug peddlers in the city.

He issued these instructions while addressing a security and crime meeting held in his office on Tuesday.

City Police Officer (CPO), Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, SP Saddar Division Iftikhar ul Haq, SP Potohar Division Muhammad Ateeque Tahir, SP Rawal Division Malik Muhammad Iqbal, SP Headquarters Ameer Abdullah Khan Niazi, acting Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Yousaf Ali Shahid and the SDPOs of the district attended the meeting.

RPO Wisal Fakhar instructed police to make extra ordinary security arrangements for the events and processions to be held in mosques and open spaces on eve of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).

He further directed that all the stakeholders should be taken onboard for promoting interfaith harmony and cohesion.

“An affective mechanism of body search should be adopted and nobody should be allowed entering in the procession without proper frisking with metal detectors,” he said.

The parking lots should be made at good distance from procession routes while patrolling in sensitive areas should also be enhanced besides mounting other security measures to avoid any untoward incident, RPO added.

He also called for beefing up security at seminaries, mosques and Imambargahs. He directed acting CTO Yousaf Ali Shahid to evolve special traffic plan for regular flow of traffic in the city.

He said all the cases should be solved on merit besides ensuring the safety of life and property of public. A spokesman to RPO informed that Wisal Fakhar would visit district Attock from where he would hold public court at 11:30am at Town Hall to address public complaints against police injustice.
