SHEIKHUPURA- Three outlaws were allegedly killed in a shootout with police while their two accomplices managed to escape the scene under the cover of darkness.

The shootout took place on GT Road near Kala Shah Kaku in the remit of Ferozewala Police late the other night.

According to police, five dacoits, in the guise of passengers, boarded a Lahore-bound passengers van, coming from Sialkot. As the van reached Kala Shah Kaku, the outlaws stopped the vehicle and started looting valuables from the passengers at gunpoint. In the meanwhile, the Ferozewala Police got a tip-off and rushed to the scene. The outlaws, however, resorted to intense firing on the lawmen as they saw them coming towards them. The policemen retaliated and a shootout ensued that lasted for some time. As result, three outlaws were killed who were later identified as Riaz, Afzal and Haneef while two others managed to escape the scene under the cover of darkness. The police said the outlaws had been involved in different heinous crimes and were wanted in various cases by the police of different district in the Lahore Division.

The shifted the dead bodies to DHQ Hospital for medico-legal formalities and started further investigation.
