ISLAMABAD (APP) - Islamabad Police Chief has decided to appoint station house officers in the police stations through a selection board which will comprise its senior officials. According to the sources, Inspector General of Police Islamabad Wajid Ali Durrani, who assumed the charge of his post on January 24, has decided to give the opportunity to the competent police officers and select the incharge of police stations through proper scrutiny of their qualifications and proficiency in the policing affairs. A board will be constituted for the selection of Station House Officers, which will conduct written tests, and interviews of police officials based on their awareness about law, discipline, proficiency in crisis management and also about police rules. The selected candidates will be appointed as SHO on rotation basis. Similarly, Muharras will also be appointed at police stations and traffic office after conducting their proper test. At present, Station House Officers of most of the police stations in Islamabad have served for several times. New faces have been introduced rarely for this post. Selection through a board will provide an opportunity to the competent officers working in Islamabad police to avail opportunity to be inducted as SHO. Seemingly a good step by the new Inspector General of police certainly needs sincere approach to ensuring policy merit.
