LAHORE - Accountability Court on Thursday extended 15-day physical remand of Khawar Rasheed, vice president of a private bank, on the charges of embezzlement of Rs 200 million through fraud, misuse of authority and criminal breach of trust. On Thursday, NAB authorities produced Rasheed before the court and sought extension in his physical remand to carry out further investigation. The court while accepting the NABs plea extended his physical remand and also directed the NAB to produce him before the court on January 21. Meanwhile, accountability court has extended 14-day physical remand of ex -constable Customs Department Ghulam Nabi, an accused of acquiring assets beyond known sources of income. According to case details, accused Ghulam Nabi despite of his very humble background acquired assets including one Kanal house in DHA, Lahore, three houses in different localities of Lahore, Honda City car and heavy accounts in five banks. The accused could not justify Rs 3002271 earned during his service. On Thursday, physical remands of Haji Bashir Ahmed and Shaukat Warraich, accomplices of Syed Sibtul Hassan Gillani alias Double Shah, had also been extended by the accountability court for 15 days. The NAB had arrested the said accused on the charges of concealing crime.
