KARACHI – Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla said on Sunday the Pakistan People’s Party, during its present tenure, carried out record development works for religious and worship places of the minorities. Talking to a delegation of minorities at his camp office, Chawla said that these works had no match in the country’s history.He said that huge amount had been spent on maintenance and renovation work of religious buildings of minorities. The government, he added, was trying to complete on-going development schemes before March.He said that President Asif Ali Zardari had decided to increase the number of minority seats in the national and provincial assemblies to resolve the issues of the minorities. He said a constitutional bill had been moved in the National Assembly in this regard. Chawla added that the government had been paying attention towards resolving the problems of minorities, especially of Hindu businessmen and doctors. He said that there was no exodus of the minority group from Sindh.The minister said the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Objective Resolution and Constitution of Pakistan had provided full religious freedom to the minorities, adding that minorities in Sindh were playing their due role in development of the province.
