LAHORE (APP) - Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has issued final notices for the recovery of Rs 5,525 million arrears from the defaulters failing which their supply will be cut off. Chief Executive Officer, LESCO, Muhammad Saleem Akhtar told APP here on Sunday that Rs 3017 millions and Rs 2508 million running arrears are pending against private and public sectors respectively while another huge amount of Rs 2907 million is also to be cleared by the Federal and provincial governments under special subsidy given to farmers on agriculture tubewells. He said that all SEs, Xens and SDOs have been directed to expedite the recovery on top priority and personally ensure realisation on daily basis. He said that those defaulters who even failed to clear their financial liabilities after the expiry of dead line, will be deprived of power supply till the amount in question is paid. He said that special cell one each at circle, division and sub division level have been set up throughout the company for immediate restoration of power supply in case of payment of arrears. LESCO Chief said that overall performance of all officers is being monitored through computerised network on daily basis and those officers showing better output will be reward while who failed to achieve the annual targets will be taken to task. He warned if power supply of any defaulter is restored without payment of arrears, concerned Xen or SDO will be suspended forthwith. He further warned that if any officer found guilty of issuing bogus or excessive billing to cover up their distribution losses will also have to face the music while meter reader concerned will be suspended. Maqsood Ahmad told APP by telephone, as a result of co-operation of consumers and through company consumer relationship, we have realised upto 100 per cent arrears and no major amount of pending against any consumer in whole of the division.
