JHANG - Representatives of different religious, traders and political organisations took out a rally against the skyrocketing hike in the POL products price, power and gas tariffs.

While addressing the protesters, Anjuman-e-Tajran President Mohammad Ali, Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jhang (CC&IJ) President Mustghees Ahmed and Government Contractors Association President Muhammad Arif said that the PPP-led government was violating its own manifesto and instead of providing relief to the masses, it was depriving them of the basic necessities. They demanded the government to reconsider the decision of POL price-hike else they would hold countrywide sit-ins, protests and rallies. The speakers on the occasion argued that the POL price-hike would not only adversely affect the struggling industries but would also cripple the household of millions.

Meanwhile, Labour Qaumi Movement (LQM) also called for protest against the prolonged unscheduled loadshedding which had paralysed the lives of the masses. Hundreds of powerloom owners, traders and locals took out rally against the inflation and 16-hour power cuts. The enraged protesters marched on roads and reached the DCO office where the speakers criticized the policies of the government. They said that 70 percent powerlooms and industrial units had been forced to shut by the long hour loadshedding, leaving thousands of people unemployed. The protesting leaders warned that if the problem of unscheduled loadshedding was not solved the Labour Qaumi Movement would launch countrywide protests.
