LAHORE – The LHC  on Tuesday directed the Punjab Government to submit report regarding the spurious drugs of last year, observing that the court “does not want the details of seminars conducted on the dengue issue.”

Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed was hearing a petition against the government over its alleged failure to control dengue. Petitioner lawyer Muhammad Azhar Siddique told the court that the government was wasting the national kitty by holding the meetings, press conferences and seminars at five star hotels despite taking practical steps to control the growth of larva of dengue by fogging in the provincial capital as well as other cities of the province.

“Tell the court seriously about the practical steps taken to control the growth of larva of dengue,” the CJ observed after admonishing the legal advisor of city district government on submitting a report of last year. The petitioner had submitted that 82 patients of dengue had reached the hospitals of the province so far due to failure of the government to take precautionary steps against dengue. He pleaded that last year due to poor arrangements of the government; many deaths took place due to dengue. He said this year on February 22 it was revealed that the dengue has started affecting the people in Lahore but the government remained idle.

He said due to insufficient arrangements of the government against dengue, there are chances of many deaths this year only because of dengue.
