KARACHI - Police on Tuesday booked Imam Bheel alias Imam Bux Bazenjo in murdering DCO Gwadar Abdul Rehman Dashti, who was found dead in a car in Clifton Police precincts in the wee hours of Monday.

According to DIG South Commander Shaukat, both the victim and the accused were friends and belonged to Turbat. He said the deceased used to visit his home whenever he came to Karachi.

Dashti reached Karachi on last Monday for medical checkup and was staying at his brother’s residence located in Street no 27, Khayaban-e-Sehar where he received the phone of Bazenjo.

Police quoted the deceased family as saying that Bazenjo wished to see him at his brother house but Dashti reached Bazenjo’s house. He reached Bazenjo’s home after having medical checkup and later found dead in a car (GR-002) parked near the accused house.

SHO Amir Altaf said the DCO Gwadar Dashti was gunned down inside the house from where police recovered bullet shells. The accused Imam managed to flee while his two servants and a cook Yar Muhammad and a driver Rafiq Ahmad were also taken into custody for interrogation.

Moreover, he said the detained Yar Muhammad, during initial investigation, revealed that the accused Imam Bux shot Dashti dead after exchanging some hot words. He directed them to threw away his body. He said the security at borders had also been beefed up to nab the accused person, who was still absconding till filing of this report.

Amir Altaf said a case 46/12 was registered against Imam Bazenjo on the complaint of deceased’s nephew Maqbool Hussain under Section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code.

Police sources said police also conducted raid at Yaqoob Bazenjo House in Darakshan area.

Meanwhile, police sources said the accused Imam was a notorious drug peddler and the US Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control had ranked him among the four most-wanted drug peddlers in the world. They said the deceased arrived here to attend Anti-Narcotics meeting and termed the same as a bone of contention between Imam Bux and Dashti.
