LAHORE – The British Council has greeted the University of Health Sciences on being ranked as one of the top 10 universities of Pakistan.

In a letter, British Council’s director David Martin has said that the recent initiative taken by the Higher Education Commission to develop a system of globally recognised university ranking is a welcome step in internationalising the higher education sector in Pakistan.

“The British Council is proud of its association with the UHS and our partnerships under the Council’s various higher education programmes”, he maintained. David further said the British Council was looking forward to work with UHS in future and to learn valuable lessons from the standards of excellence maintained by the university. UHS has recently been awarded prestigious International Strategic Partnership in Research and Education and Development of Innovative System through Knowledge Exchange grants by the British Council for supporting joint academic and research programmes with University of Liverpool, UK.

UHS project was selected as one of the 17 successful awards out of 123 applications received from both Pakistan and UK.

The proposal was mutually selected and approved by both British Council and HEC of Pakistan, after detailed evaluation process.

INSPIRE is a British Council funded project that aims to significantly strengthen academic and research partnership between higher education institutions in the UK and in selected Central and Southern Asian countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
