KARACHI - Salim Vahidy and Masud Mazhar won the Pairs contest of Karachi Bridge Association’s Duplicate Bridge event with an impressive score of 65.90 percent, said a news release issued on Tuesday.

Having met many ups and down in their run but eventually Vahidy Masud won the 16 pairs competition. Right from the start Nasim Arzoo-Sarfraz joined  the front bunch along with Ziaullah-Hamed, Masud Mazhar-Salim Vahidy, Nadeem-Tariq Zafar, and Tabrez, Zulfi and Anwar Gheewala. However, towards the close, it was the pair of Masud Mazhar and Salim Vahidy who thwarted all challenges and came at the top.

The veteran pair of Ghaffar Qureshi - A. Fakih finished second followed by Shaikh Muqeet-Asghar Abbas.

In the Swiss team event, Tanvir, enjoying the draw in the first round, started their second session with carry over point 18. They outpoitned Alliance 24-6 then lost narrowly to Four Aces 14-16.  In the last game they outscored Aces 24-6 to win event. Tanvir Mazahir, Tariq Zafar, Anisur Rehman and Shahab Khan performed very satisfactory for the team. Tanvir scored 82 Victory Points.

Four Aces having the services of Abdul Khaliq, Asghar Abbas, Shaikh Muqeet and Amir Yasin won all the four matches, but on points table they were second with 74 VPs. Aces with Mushahid, Azim, Dr. Hasan and Jawad Abedi claimed third berth with a score of 59 V.P. They won two matches and lost two.
