Computerisation of land record under the Land Record Management Information System project will go a long way in the elimination of age-old patwari culture in the province, said Punjab Minister for Agriculture Dr Furrukh Javed here.

While visiting the project being started with the cooperation of World Bank here, he said that record of all property including land would be computerised by December 31 this year. He expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the Service Centre in Hafizabad and added that owners of property had now been facilitated in getting the computerised ownership deeds (fard) promptly.

BONDED AND CHILD LABOUR: All-out efforts will be made to eliminate bonded and child labour and violators of law will be dealt with sternly, said DCO Mansoor Qadir.

While chairing a meeting of District Vigilance Committee which was attended among others by DO (Cord) Noman Hafeez, DO Labour Ghulam Shabbir Kalyar, Deputy Director Social Security and labour leader Muhammad Zaman Ansari. DO Labour Ghulam Shabbir told the meeting that 73 brick kilns had so far been registered under the Factories Act and it had been ensured that the kiln workers could get minimum wages. Moreover, Complaint Cell has been setup in Labour Office and DO Social Welfare Rana Mehboob has been nominated as a Focal Person. The DCO has directed the concerned officers to issue Social Security Card to all the workers and their rights should be protected.
