MANDI BAHAUDDIN - Residents of Kot Baloch have been facing acute shortage of potable water and demanded to build water supply scheme.

Talking to the media here on Wednesday, Advocate Safdar Langah said that water supply scheme was sanctioned to supply potable water to the residents of Kot Baloch two years ago a village located in out-skirts of Mandi.

In this connection, the Village Development Committee deposited 20 per cent cost of the scheme and rest of the amount the government had to provide, but the department concerned had not initiated the scheme despite repeated requests of the people, he complained.

He said that Kot Baloch is located at salinity affected area and soil water being used by residents was not potable. As a result, incidence of water borne diseases like Cholera, typhoid, paratyphoid and dysentery were increasing, he claimed.

He appealed the Punjab CM to take notice of the matter and order the local administration to start already sanctioned water supply scheme.
