NAWABSHAH (Online) Eleven people were killed while six others sustained injuries in a clash between Jatoi and Khosa tribes in Qazi Ahmed Town here on Thursday. According to police and residents, clashes erupted after armed men of Khosa tribe opened indiscriminate fire on Jatoi tribesmen, when they were sitting at a shop in Aftab Colony of Qazi Ahmed Town. As a result, seven people, five belonging to Jatoi tribe and two passers-by died on the spot while two others sustained injuries. One of the injured succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. In retaliation, the armed Jatoi tribesmen attacked Khosa village and killed three people, besides torching several houses and shops owned by Khosa tribesmen. Later, thousands of Jatoi and Khosa tribesmen blocked the National Highway along with the corpses for four hours at separate spots. Thousands of passengers stranded in hot and muggy weather on both sides of the highway. Various Jatoi tribesmen entered the town from nearby villages and resorted to aerial firing in the streets, forcing shopkeepers to pull their shutters down and transporters to keep their vehicles off the road. The deceased were identified as Malook Jatoi, Khair Muhammad Jatoi, Aashiq Jatoi, Maqbool Jatoi, Anwer Jatoi, Sharif Jatoi, Qurban Khoso, Ali Bux Khoso, Ghulam Qadir Khoso, Gulzar Kunbhar and Rustum Kunbhar. The injured were shifted to Peoples Medical College Hospital where some of them are stated to be in serious condition. The fresh clashes are said to be the sequel of an old tribal feud, which has so far claimed dozens of lives from both sides during last years. Fear and tension gripped the entire district after the fierce clashes as the Jatoi tribesmen besieged the Khosa village. The police did not act to bring the siege to an end till the filing of this report. Area resident fear more bloodshed if the police do not intervene immediately.
