LAHORE - A convocation of COMSAT Institute of Information Technology of the graduates of Spring session 2010 was held on Saturday. Total 458 students were declared successful in the examination, while 35 students got distinction who were awarded with gold, silver and other medals. Rector of the institute, Dr SM Junaid on the occasion gave away medals to the students. A good number of students and teachers participated in the ceremony. On the occasion, Dr Junaid said institute has made matchless progress within short period of ten years. And now its students were serving in Pakistan and abroad which was matter of pride for the institution. He said, we started in 2001 with capacity of two rooms as institution but now after ten years thanks to Almighty Allah it is expanded over more than 100 acres of land and making further progress. He said institute would leave no stone unturned for the introduction of new trends in the filed of information and technology. The successful students attributed their success to the struggle of their and to precious guidance of their teachers. Exhibition A group show of miniatures and sculptures work by alumni of Kinnaird College for Women (KCW) was opened at Nairang Art Gallery here the other day. Some 42 different pieces of artists including Myra Tariq, Kiran Fatima, Sehreena Masood, Sana Manzoor Ahmed, Zainab Tariq Agha, Aimen Ghaffar were put on display. Principal KCW Dr Rukhsana David was the chief guest while a large number of art lovers and student of the college were present on the occasion. The exhibition will remain open till November 12. Competition A competition of recitation of Allama Iqbals verses was held at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan here on Saturday. The students of various colleges and schools participated in programme while the winners were awarded prizes. Prof Muhammad Saeed Shaikh addressed on the occasion and congratulated the winners of the competition.
