KARACHI - The Jamat-e- Islami leaders have condemned the forcible closure of markets, bazaars, pumps and hospitals by miscreants in the presence of Federal Interior Minister Reman Malik. Former provincial ministers of JI including Muzaffer Hashmi, Laiq Ahmed Khan, Nasrullah Shajjee and Yunus Barai in a joint statement criticised the bid to lay hostage to the city. They said that the government has failed to provide security and peace to the citizens and in the presence of Rehman Malik so-called coalition partners of the democratic government forcibly closed the shops and markets, they alleged. They further added that during the night the citizens were directed to stay in their premises and the streets lights of many areas were closed to achieve the illegitimate goals. The miscreants torched buses public and commercial properties and block roads for the commuters. The recent hike in petroleum products and other commodities have paralysed the economy and stagnated the growth of Pakistan, observed JI leaders.
