LAHORE - Federal Advisor Textiles, Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig met the office bearers of Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Gujrat Chambers of Commerce & Industry and Chairmen of various industrial association at FPCCI Zonal office Lahore and discussed power and gas loadshedding in the industries of Punjab. The representatives of the trade and industry complained about the hike in the prices of electricity, petroleum products and continuous increase in the banks lending rates eventually increasing the cost of production making their products uncompetitive in the international market. The business community also expressed their concern on the reformed GST Bill to be tabled in the Parliament by 1st January 2011. Dr Baig has arranged a meeting at FPCCI with the Governor State Bank regarding banks higher mark-ups which has seriously affected industrial growth and job opportunities in Pakistan. Dr Baig will also take the matter with the utility companies to ensure second priority to the industry as per Cabinet decision of the government.
