RAWALPINDI Roots School System, DHA Phase II Campus, held its Annual Sports Day titled 'Sports for Peace Extravaganza 2010 on Saturday. Different kinds of competitions among the kids were witnessed during the whole day. Although the kids were too young to have any sense of rivalry among them, yet their enthusiasm was sky-high. The school ground was covered with different colourful balloons and big banners encouraging the kids who were taking part in the Annual Sports Day. The kids performed in different categories and received thunderous applause from a sizeable crowd comprising parents and well wishers who gathered there to celebrate the occasion with their loved ones. Former world squash champion Jansher Khan was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Khan appreciated the overall performance of the children and congratulated the entire staff of the school for holding such a delightful function. Matter al Sadhal al Mansoori, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of United Arab Emirates, was also present to grace this occasion as the guest of honour. While thanking the guests and parents, Director Roots School System Faisal Mushtaq said that the school has been actively involved in various awareness campaigns for the last 22 years. Today there is a need to inculcate peace and the school is the best platform where the students are able to spread this message, he added. Later Jansher Khan distributed prizes among the students.
