The T.V. Channels are showing Diamir Bhasha dam plans as if it has been completed with fanfare. The fact of the matter is that the road has to be widened after Havelian past Abbotabad to carry the heavy machinery to the dam site. The 135 KM silk road has to be relocated to a higher location with six major bridges on the Indus river. This might take several years before any work is initiated on the dam. Mere foundation stone laying does not indicate completion or inauguration of the mega dam project. Meanwhile the WAPDA authorities have hopefully stated to give a presentation to the writer for elaboration of their plans for the dam which is likely to be held after Eid-ul-Azha vacations. I am eagerly looking forward to hear about the WAPDA plans for the dam to ascertain the real time element involved in the building of the dam in a most difficult terrain. DR.
