OUR STAFF REPORTER HAFIZABAD - Panic gripped the city when an LPG cylinder exploded with a big bang on the busiest Old Kutchery Road in front of the TMA Office here on Sunday. The noise of the explosion was heard within radius of one kilometre from the place of the occurrence. The people ran helter-skelter as of a bomb had exploded. The cylinder was exploded on the 'Rehri(hand driven cart) of Samosa-Pakera maker Iftikhar. The stove and cooking oil in the 'Karahi(pan) caught fire and boiling oil spread over the people nearby. Resultantly eight people including a 2-year-girl, her mother, cart-pusher Iftikhar, Janat Bibi, Ghulam Rasool, Shafqat Hussain, Ahmad Hassan and Asghar received serious burns. They were rushed to hospital by Rescue-1122. TMA Administrator Fakharul Islam Doger and other TMA officers were first to reach the spot immediately.
