ISLAMABAD - Pakistan moved into the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Under-25 Twenty20 Cup final after defeating hosts Maldives by 177 runs in the semi-final played at the Fuvahmulah cricket ground, Maldives on Sunday to face final against Sri Lanka today (Monday). Batting first, Nasir Jamshed (119) and Awais Zia (119) helped Pakistan to put 280 runs on board. Nasir Jamshed hitting unbeaten 119 runs off 54 balls, Awais made 119 runs in 52 deliveries, while Jamal Anwer (27).. M Mehfooz got one wicket for 31 from Maldives. Awais has played superbly in the tournament and now it depends upon the Pakistan selectors to provide with him a chance to made his mark in the international cricket. Chasing a huge victory target, Maldives were succumbed to pressure and could manage 103/8 in 20 overs. M Azam was the only batsman who scored 25 runs for the hosts. M Talha impressed with his fast bowling but failed to take more than one wicket. Raza Hassan was the pick of the Pakistani bowlers who chipped in with 3/30 runs while Usman Qadir got 2/17. Talking to this scribe, coach-cum manager of Pakistan U-25 team Sabih Azhar said: Thanks God, we managed to reach the final of the tournament due to teams combined efforts as team played s a one-unit.
