LAHORE - The atmosphere of complete sectarian harmony and law and order situation would be maintained in the province and a handful elements of terrorists/extremists be taken to task. It was announced during the meeting of Inspector General of Police Tariq Saleem Dogar with the delegation of Shia Ulemas at CPO here on Monday. CCPO Muhammad Aslam Tareen was also present on this occasion. The members of the delegation of Shia Ulemas consisted of Alhaaj Haider Ali Mirza, Syed Shakir Ali Rizvi, Khawaja Basharat Ali, Maulana Syed Waqar Hussain Naqvi, Agha Abbas, Syed Muhammad Javed Zaidi, Zahid Hussain Butt, Ali Naqi Sohail, Asad Abbas, Afsar Abbas, Hassan Mehdi and Haider Siddiqui. While addressing the meeting, the IG said that terrorist and extremist elements are enemy of the whole humanity and a number of officers/officials of Punjab Police have sacrificed their precious lives in the lines of their duties of combating against these elements; as such it was need of the hour that all sections of the society in general and Ulema Karam in particular should come forward to play their rightful role in this regard. Paying tributes to the meritorious services of Ulema Karam for the promotion of religious tolerance and fraternity in the provincial metropolis; the IG expressed the hope that the Ulema Karam would continue to extend their full cooperation to the government for the elimination of sectarian hatredness and terrorism from the country. He urged the Ulema Karam to inform the people about Islamic teachings in this connection. The IG gave assurance to the Ulema Karam that the proposals presented by them would be given proper weight-age and in the light of these proposals further administrative measures would be taken. The members of the delegation of Shia Ulemas expressed their satisfaction over the measures taken by the Punjab police for maintenance of law & order and prevention of terrorism and crime across the province.
