LAHORE - The 12-day long Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Baseball Coaching Course concluded here at the Punjab Sports Board Academy on Thursday.

Arif Shahzad was the course director and taught the finer points about the game during the course. Arif was assisted Syed Khawar Shah about rules and regulations, Musaddiq Hanif about batting/pitching and Usman Shahzad about fielding as coordinators.

During the course, resource persons Miss Sumera Sattar, Executive Member of POA (Women Sports Promotion), Painda A Malik, secretary Pakistan Gymnastic Federation (Olympic Movement), Dr Meesaq Rizvi (injuries/doping) and Salman Iqbal Butt secretary Punjab Athletic Association (Nutrition) also delivered lectures to the participants. Overall 28 coaches belong to Punjab, Sindh, Balochisan, KP, Islamabad, Army, Wapda, Police and different schools, colleges and universities attended the course. All the coaches also passed the written test which was taken at the end of the course.

Pakistan Olympic Association president Lt Gen (retd) Arif Hasan was the chief guest and he awarded the certificates to the successful coaches. He expressed the hope the course would help the coaches in enhancing their skill. He assured the PFB that the POA would also get an advanced course for it from the International Olympic Committee.

PFB secretary Khawar Shah also highlighted the main features of the course and said the coaches showed lot of interest in enhancing their technical abilities by attending the course with zeal. Overall, 21 men and seven female attended the course.
