LAHORE – The case of Captain Safdar, PML-N MNA, is about to reach the end as the party General Secretary Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has put up the case before Nawaz Sharif.

Sources in the party claim that tussle arose between Captain (r) Safdar and PML-N stalwarts in Khyber PK namely Vice President of the party Sardar Mahtab Khan Abbasi and Provincial President Pir Sabir Shah has lost steam after Safdar in his written reply to the show-cause, apologised to them if any of his remarks had hurt their feelings while denying to have never uttered any word against them.

Abbasi, the sources say, have accepted the explanation given by Safdar, however the position on the part of Pir Sabir was gradually getting clear as few issues relating to nomination of some district level office bearers, which previously caused differences, are being sorted out.

Jhagra while acting on the instructions of party President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on July 27 last, had suspended the basic membership of Cap Safdar while calling for his explanation on the charges that he uttered some objectionable remarks against the said main leaders of the party while addressing the workers in his constituency. Cap Safdar, the son in law of Nawaz Sharif, had forwarded his reply to the Party General Secretary who in turn has put up the matter before the Party head and issue is expected to be decided within next couple of days.

Sources further say that the party head decision will also decide continuation of Captain Safdar as Central President PML-N Youth Wing. They say through a committee, of which Safdar is also a member, is working out recommendations to make the Wing stronger with a view to enabling it meet the challenges of the upcoming general elections wherein younger voters have obtained tremendous importance.
