LAHORE – PTI chief Imran Khan has said that September 6 reminds us the sacrifices of those sons and daughters of the soil who embraced martyrdom to defend the frontiers of the motherland.

In Defence Day message on Thursday, he said that the people would never forget the sacrifices of the armed forces, which repelled a bigger force displaying high courage during the 1965 war. He said, “The nation needs the spirit of September 6, 1965 to steer the country out of the serious challenges it is facing at the moment”.

Imran said that PTI was committed to a struggle for strengthening Pakistan and converting into a real Islamic welfare state.

Meanwhile, PTI and PML-Q held separate functions in the City to commemorate the Defence Day besides laying floral wreaths at the memorials of martyrs of September 6.

Provincial and local leaders of PML-Q and PTI including, Chaudhary Zaheer-ud-Din, Mian Munir, Haji Imdad Hussain, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, Ishtiaq Malik, Naveed, Nawaz Awan, Javed Cheema, Rana Akhtar and Javed Awan in separately laid floral wreaths at the memorials of martyrs of September 6.  Besides holding functions at their respective party offices to highlight the sacrifices of the armed forces martyrs during 1965 war with India, PTI and PML-Q leaders also offered special prayers for the September 6 martyrs.
