LOWER DIR – Social and political activists of the Dir Lower have said that violation of traffic rules and road insecurity had been a routine in the district while smuggling of timber was on the rise.

Talking to local journalists here on Thursday a number of social and political workers recalled that once the Ex-DIG Malakand region Muhammad Idrees had ensured road safety and traffic on roads had been made as per rules. “The DIG had also controlled activities of the timber mafia in the region,” they said, adding competent and potential officers in police department had been made in charges of different sectors.

After his transfer from the region, they said that political interference again started in police department resulting in traffic mess and violation of traffic rules and regulation.

Similarly police patrolling at nights in all districts of Malakand division had been ensured in his period.

“No one these days feel security on roads at nights as police patrolling has been only a formality,” they said and demanded of the high ups to send the DIG Muhammad Idrees back to Malakand region.
