LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said the federal government had destroyed every national and profit-earning institution while the PML-N government in Punjab had not only reconstructed the devastated institutions but had also established new institutions for the welfare of the youth and the masses.

In a statement issued from London, the chief minister said the facts revealed in the recent report of World Economic Forum, about devastation of Pakistan’s economy because of corruption and bad governance of the federation had further exposed the true nature of Zardari gang.

“Those rulers as have not been able to rid the country of energy crisis do not deserve to be tolerated in power even for a single second. Reports of international institutions are clearly reflecting the fact that the present rulers have devastated national economy and Pakistan has gone far behind many countries including its neighbors in the economic field,” the CM held.

Shahbaz said the PML-N government had initiated a reformatory and revolutionary programme to ensure promotion of merit and establishment of good governance in the province, whereas third-party audit system had been introduced to maintain transparency in the execution of uplift schemes due to which well-reputed institutions at international level were acknowledging transparency in the development projects of the provincial government.

He said the latest report of World Economic Forum had exposed the tall claims of progress in the country. He said, due to incompetence of Zardari gang, industry is at standstill, lakhs of people have become unemployed, while every person is being impacted by terrorism and lawlessness.

“People are witness to the fact that Punjab government has taken a number of concrete steps to rid the society of corruption, while it has given practical shape to the slogan of provision of education, health, employment and other facilities to every citizen”, he add. He said, due to this reason, independent international institutions are acknowledging good governance and transparency in Punjab while there is no blemish of corruption on Punjab government for the last four and a half years.

Shahbaz said if we were sincere, no task was difficult. He said the culture of merit and transparency, introduced in Punjab, has become our identity and even our critics cannot accuse Punjab government of corruption. He said, as a result of revolutionary public-welfare and uplift programmes, undertaken by PML-N government, a network of development projects can be seen throughout the province. He said that a gradual improvement, under a well-coordinated strategy, has been introduced in education, health, infrastructure and other sectors.

He pointed out if the federal government had not imposed the menace of loadshedding on the people due to its incompetency, the fruit of progress and prosperity would have reached the people in a more effective manner. He said that when the PML-N government came into power, the biggest hurdle in its way was the graveyards of corruption by the previous government in every sector.

The chief minister said corruption, plunder, dishonesty and culture of ad-hocism was rampant, but Punjab government under the dynamic leadership of Quaid PML-N Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, fought these social evils with determination and transformed the graveyards of mismanagement into the minarets of development through good governance due to which international institutions like Transparency are acknowledging the good governance in Punjab.

He said the PML-N government does not believe in power only for the sake of power, but it believes in power to serve the masses. Shahbaz vowed that PML-N would continue its struggle for strengthening of democracy, under the dynamic leadership of Nawaz Sharif.
