PESHAWAR - At least 25 militants and 10 security forces men were killed and several others were injured in clashes between security forces and militants in Loya Sam area of Bajaur Agency, ISPR said here Thursday. However, Maulvi Omar, spokesman of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), denied the claim of the security forces and said that 20 personnel of the security forces were killed in the clashes. Moreover, he also claimed that the militants besieged more than 100 personnel of the security forces.      Meanwhile, the traditional tribal Jirga declared a ceasefire between security forces and Taliban militants in Loya Sam area of Bajaur Agency. The ISPR officials claimed that at least 25 Taliban militants and 10 soldiers were killed during clashes at Loya Sam area. The clashes between the two sides had erupted late Wednesday when around 200 armed militants attacked a convoy of security forces. However, later the traditional tribal elders initiated efforts for ceasefire and after holding successful talks with the administration and the Taliban militant declared the ceasefire. Maulvi Omar and civil administration officials at Khar, headquarters of Bajaur Agency, have confirmed the ceasefire. Maulvi Omar, when contacted, said that TTP agreed for giving a safe route to the besieged personnel of the security forces when they laid down arms. He also claimed that number of the besieged personnel of the security forces was more than 100, including their five injured persons. He further claimed that the jirga members assured that security forces would not enter the area in future. The civil administration officials at Khar while confirming the ceasefire avoided to comment on the besieged personnel of the security forces. Soon after the eruption of the clashes between the security forces and the militants, reports were received suggesting violent clashes in other regions too. Wali-Ur-Rehman, a leader of Jesh-i-Islami, an affiliated militant wing of the banned Jesh-i-Mohammad headed by Maulana Masud Azhar, also claimed that they attacked the security forces in solidarity with TTP in Qamar Sar area of Bajaur Agency, killing three personnel of the security forces and injuring over 20 of them. Essa Khankhel adds from Mingora: The security forces Thursday apprehended around 15 militants during door-to-door search operation amidst continuing clashes at different places of Matta Sub-Division in Swat District. Meanwhile, Maulana Soofi Mohammad, chief of banned Tehrik-i-Nifaz-i-Shariah-i-Mohammadi (TNSM), also announced to initiate mediation between Taliban militants and NWFP government.
