LAHORE - Achieving top honors in the 3rd Aquafina Royal Palm Golf team Championship was no easy task and after a very close battle between Karachi, Royal Palm, Gymkhana and Gujranwala teams, the ultimate winner was Karachi 'A' who remained grimly determined and had the better of the past two days leading teams Gujranwala and the Royal Palm. For the Karachi team, Ali Hai produced a round of quality, a par-72 on the final day and brought Karachi to winning shores. Also comfortable on the final day for Karachi was Ali Sher, an upcoming young lad who under tremendous competitive conditions stayed cool and played his shots virtually in copybook style. Under the captaincy of Commander Anser Mehmood, the Karachi team has emerged as a reliable bunch, and the way they played on the final day, they are capable of matching the best of the teams. Gymkhana 'A' team defending champions gave a better performance on the final day and the best one of the team was Aadil Jehangir. His round of 73 on the final day reflects, focus and ability, factors that had somehow evaded him in the first two rounds. He stated that on the first day, although he stuck to his swing, the feel was missing simply because he had been busy with his exams and not practiced for about 7 days prior to coming for this competition. However, 18 holes of play on Friday and Saturday helped him to get his feel back. Other players who helped Gymkhana team to snatch the runner-up slot from Royal Palm 'A' were Danyaal Jehangir, Murad A.Khan and Javed Khan.
