KARACHI (APP) - City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that work on construction of overhead pedestrian bridges has already started to facilitate pedestrians in crossing the busy roads specially at signal-free corridors. He said that Rs 100 million have been sanctioned and tenders invited. He said the entire work has been taken up as a project and a senior officer appointed as Project Director to ensure its early execution and completion. Mustafa Kamal said that with the construction of signal-free corridors and new wide roads in the city, people were facing problems in crossing the roads and, therefore, the city government started taking measures to sole this problem on priority basis. Initially, he pointed out, Rs 100 million have been set aside for the project and more resources will be arranged gradually. Meanwhile on the Nazim's directive, the CDGK's transport department has established a separate section for the project to be headed by Mohammed Athar, a senior officer. The section has already undertaken work on the construction of 10 pedestrian bridges at (1) Behzad Lahknvai road, Shadman No 2, North Nazimabad, (2) Road 2500 near Nagan Chowrangi, Iqbal Plaza (3) Nawab Siddiue Ali Khan Road near Enquiry Office Liaquatabad, (4) Sharea Faisal near Awami Markaz, (5) Shahrah-e-Pakistan Near Incholi, Gulberg Town, (6) Shahrah-e-Pqkistan near Aga Khan Flat Gulberg Town, (7) Road-5000 near Town Municipal Chowrangi, North Karachi Town, (8) Road-5000 near Bara Market, North Karachi Town, (9) Road-5000 near Saleem Center North Karachi and (10) Road-5000 near UP Mor, North Karachi Town.
