LAHORE : Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has urged labour organisations to support government efforts in removing a negative impression of Pakistan in the world regarding forced labour. Addressing a seminar at the Lahore Press Club on Saturday, he said excesses on labourers were intolerable and tarnishing the image of Pakistan. He said the Punjab government was expediting the registration process for the welfare of kiln workers, providing them residential facilities and social justice. After Kasur and Sahiwal, programmes of elimination of bonded and child labour have been started in Faisalabad and four other districts with the cooperation of ILO, he added.

He urged labourers to get their national identity cards as soon as possible to benefit from government facilities. He emphasized labour leaders to constitute a permanent committee for negotiating with government representatives for providing facilities to labourers.
