LAHORE – Academic Staff Association and Non-Gazetted Staff Associations have demanded of the chief minister and provincial police chief to take strict action against SP Security Waqas Hassan.

Both the associations alleged the SP along with his staff severely thrashed two security guards of GCU namely Javed Iqbal and Muhammad Raees Ahmed a few days back. According to a press release, the victim people were kicked back by Old Anarkali police and even the CCPO Office was using lingering tactics in entertaining them when they went to get recorded their statements.

They said the SP along with his staff (in civil dress) arrived at the GCU and tried to enter without producing his identification but when the aforesaid guards asked them to introduce themselves, they started beating them badly.

Gang busted: Iqbal Town Police Division claimed to have busted a notorious gang and arrested 36 anti-social elements from various brothel houses on Tuesday.

According to the City’s operations police spokesman, SP Iqbal Town Division Abdul Ghaffar Qaisrani and his police team raided a hideout and arrested two members of Deema Dacoit gang including Nadeem Shahzad alias Deema and his accomplice Javed alias Jedi. Police recovered three snatched cars, automatic firearms, seven cell phones, and other stolen valuables from their possession.

Similarly, the same police division raided several identified brothel houses and arrested some 36 anti-social elements and lodged cases in accordance with the law.

Besides praising the police efforts, the DIG (Operations) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for SP Iqbal Town, DSP Nasir Mehmood, SHO Qamar Abbas and the raiding team.
