ISLAMABAD  – About 13,615,327 cotton bales have arrived in the local markets by the start of current month, showing an increased of 22.61 percent as compared to the last year.

The cotton arrival during the same month of last year was recorded at 11,104,511 bales, an official in the Ministry of Textile Industry told APP here on Tuesday.

The cotton export from the country registered upward trend as its export increased by 11.34 percent whereas out of total received out-put about 724,090 bales were exported, he added. He said that the cotton arrival from Punjab in local market has registered an increase of 49.2 percent as compared with last year’s arrival. The official said that about 11,029,144 cotton bales have arrived from Punjab so far as against the arrival of 7,390,566 bales during the same period of last year.

Out of total received out-put during the period under review, about 426,008 bales were exported as against the export of 57,200 bales of last year, showing an increase of 32.84 percent, he added.

About 9,802,830 cotton bales were sold to the textile mills in the country which was recorded at 6,877,686 bales during the same period of last year, he added. Meanwhile, cotton arrival from the Sindh province dropped by 30.37 percent as it was recorded at 2,585,913 bales as compared the 3,713,945 bales of last year.

The cotton export from the total received out-put from the Sinsh province was recorded at 2,555,179 bales till date as against the export of 3,675,995 bales of last year.
