LAHORE – Some senior doctors of the Shaikh Zayed Hospital on Tuesday expressed their concern over the recent move to hand over control of the health institute to the Punjab government.

Talking to media on Tuesday chairman of the Shaikh Zayed Hospital Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal, cardiologist Prof Dr Ajmal Naqvi, president of the Young Doctors Association Dr Shahid Malik and representative of paramedics Ghafoor Ali said that they would oppose all the efforts to handover the administrative control of the Shaikh Zayed Hospital to the Punjab government.

Prof Zafar said that there was no provision under the 18th amendment to hand over the Shaikh Zayed Hospital to the Punjab government, as the said institute was being run by the Cabinet Division instead of the federal health ministry.

He said that all the employees of the Shaikh Zayed Hospital have unanimously condemned the Punjab government’s claim over the said health facility.

Prof Ajmal said that the Cabinet Division was running the administrative matters of the said institute on priority basis.

On the occasion the representatives of the Young Doctors Association, paramedics and nurses, of the hospital, also announced to oppose the recent move of the Punjab government to get administrative control of the Shaikh Zayed Hospital.
