LAHROE – The students of Government College of Home Economics, Gulberg displayed their annual thesis and projects on Tuesday.

Federal Secretary, member Public Service Commission and Chairman Gymkhana Club Zia-ur-Rehman inaugurated the 3-day annual exhibition.

While talking on the occasion, he said Government College of Home Economics was a unique institution which was promoting the creativity among the students. He took keen interest in all the projects and appreciated the efforts of the students. The college Principal Dr Samia Kalsoom highlighted the yearlong efforts of the students and teachers to make this exhibition a success.  The exhibition attracted swarms of people from all over Lahore. All the major departments of the college displayed their yearlong work and creative efforts in the form of annual examination projects.

The Housing, Home Management and Interior Department had 4 major projects on display including Decoration, Renovation, Commercial and Group Projects. The perfect collaboration of modern and traditional art in furniture, wall panels and decorative elements received admiration from all quarters.

Textile and Clothing Department became the center of attention for many visitors with its colorful display of draping projects including inspiration based formal dresses, themed dresses, draped coats and jackets and striking printed suits with intricate designs.

The Art and Design Department presented a spectacular show of aesthetics and creativity. The students of 5th year exhibited landscape, still life and calligraphy paintings, graphic prints and theme paintings.

 On the other hand, the students of 6th year introduced unique styles in pottery, murals, weaving and block printing.

The projects of Nutrition Department were purely scientific and research based. The students of diploma courses displayed their internship reports and research work of Diploma in Institutional Management and Post-Graduate Diploma in Dietetics, covering subjects including Advanced Nutrition, Community Nutrition and Applied Nutrition. HDFS Department displayed their nursery-school projects based on visual aids.

Food stalls were arranged for the visitors on the occasion.

Exhibition Coordinator Dr Tahira Rana, Zahida Altaf, Shabana Khalid, Sajida Nadeem and Farah Ahmed were also present on this occasion.
