LAHORE Pakistan polo team will face Nigerian team on June 15 in the FIP Polo World Cup 2011 being played at Malaysia from June 13 to 25, 2011. The opening match of the event will be played between South Africa and Nigeria on June 13. Pakistan team will play two matches in the main round as in the first match, they will meet Nigeria on June 15 and in the second one, they will take on South Africa on June 18. A press conference is being held in this regard here at the Lahore Polo Club at 1 pm on Wednesday (today) to highlight the various features of the participation of Pakistan polo team in the FIP Polo World Cup. A polo team of Pakistan has been selected already and will depart from Lahore on June 9. Chairman Pakistan Polo Association Maj Gen Sahibzada Isfandiyar Ali Khan Pataudi along with manager of the team Abdul Qadir Khan Mamdot and the representatives of sponsors will address the press conference. As many as seven countries are taking part in the mega event. They are South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, India, Pakistan, Nigeria and Malaysia. The teams were drawn into three zones of two, two and three teams. In Zone 1, team A is Australia and team B is Malaysia. In Zone 2, team C is New Zealand and team D India. In Zone 3, team E is South Africa, team F is Pakistan and team G is Nigeria. Three teams from the FIP Polo World Cup Asian-Australasian-African Championships (Zone D) will qualify for the FIP Polo World Cup Final to be held in San Luis, Argentina in October 2011.
