Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House on Saturday and discussed with him the agenda and priorities of the interior ministry under new government.

Chaudhry Nisar informed the Prime Minister that Interior Ministry would continue to cooperate with all provincial governments and provide them all possible assistance in order to maintain law and order.

He assured that officers of proven integrity and competence would be appointed in the interior ministry, adding that they would be expected to uphold merit and continue to deliver.

Chaudhry Nisar assured Prime Minister Sharif that a detailed presentation would be made to him on the interior ministry shortly to seek his guidance.

The prime minister expressed the hope that effective measures would be taken by the interior ministry in order to fulfill public expectations.

Later talking to media persons, the Interior Minister said that though maintaining peace is a provincial matter but he is ready to provide all sorts of facilitation to achieve that purpose.

He said that Interior Ministry will help the provinces by providing intelligence and forces to maintain peace. 

He further said that keeping the politics separate, the government will continue to cooperate with the provincial governments. The country does not need politics, but work; however, the media will be kept in loop to disseminate information.

Chaudhry Nisar vowed that as an interior minister, he will not interfere in everything.
