Restoration of peace in Karachi is crucial for the economic growth in the country and Jamaat-e-Islami is ready to cooperate with the government and other parties in making efforts to end violence in the city.

JI Sindh Chief Dr Mairaj-ul-Huda Siddiqui stated this while addressing a protest rally of the party workers and supporters at Lasbela Chowk against the target killings of party workers on Friday.

On the occasion, JI leader also demanded dismissal of Governor Sindh and immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the target killings of the JI workers.

He said that those who had stolen the public mandate by force should be kept remain out from the power as it was imperative for the economic growth and restoration of peace in the city.

He said that the JI leadership will play its due role for the restoration of peace and law and order in the city.

“Restoration of peace is unavoidable for economic growth adding that JI will do its utmost efforts in this regard,” Dr Huda added.

He feared that reconciliation with the target killers and extortionists would ruin the economic growth in Karachi and ultimately the country.

Speaking on the occasion, JI Acting Karachi Chief Barjees Ahmed said that the city had turned into slaughter house for the innocent people as previous government had handed over the city to the terrorists and target killers in the name of reconciliation.

“If the transparent elections had been held then the incidents of target killings and extortions could be stopped ultimately but the ECP and government had patronised the “thappa mafia” in current general elections,” he added.

Addressing the rally, JI General Secretary Karachi Naseem Siddiqui demanded the government for taking immediate notice of the target killings of JI workers, Abid Ilyas, Younus Gul and Hanif Ansari.

He urged the government to take cohesive step against the target killers regardless of any political reconciliation.

A large number of protestors including women and children were present on the occasion. They carried placards and banners inscribed with “arrest the target killers of JI workers” and “restoration of peace in Karachi imperative for economic growth of the country”.

Other JI leaders, including Naib Ameers Raja Arif Sultan, Nasrullah Shajih, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, former MPA Younus Barai, and Secretary Information Zahid Askari were also present on the occasion.
