OUR STFAF REPORTER LAHORE - Lahore junior hockey team is all set to face Faisalabad in the PHF Junior Super Hockey League final on Sunday (today). In the semi-final on Saturday, Lahore defeated Sialkot by 2-1 in a thriller while Faisalabad outplayed Multan by 2-0. Lahore ended the first half with one-goal lead after getting 15th minute penalty corner goal from M Fahad who scored with a carpet hit. Sialkot put a new life in the match by equalising at 1-1 in the 41st minute when Ali Butt translated a short corner. Lahore got a penalty corner in the 55th minute and Fahad sent the ball in the goalpost to seal a hard earned win for his team. Faisalabad skipper Bilal Qadir put his side ahead with the 10th minute field goal. Multan came in patches and failed to impress and most of their forward exhibited selfish moves with individual play. With time tickling away and Multan wasting a series of scoring sitters, Faisalabad doubled the lead with the 69th minute short corner goal scored by Waseem Abbas. Director General Sports Board Punjab Jamshaid Dawoodi was the chief guest during the first semi-final while Chairman National Selection Committee former Olympian Abdul Hanif Khan was guest of honour during the second semi-final. Lahore will clash Faisalabad in the final at 4 pm while Multan will take on Sialkot for the third spot match at 2 pm.
