Rawalpindi - The Airport Security Force (ASF) took a Bannu cop into custody after recovering a pistol from his possession during a search at the entry gate of Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport, sources informed yesterday. The cop indentified as Shab Nawaz was handed over to officials of Airport police station for further investigation, they added.

According to sources, the ASF staff deputed at main gate of the airport was frisking the passengers and their relatives when they caught a man namely Shab Nawaz after recovery of a pistol from his possession during body search. The ASF staff immediately called PS Airport officials and gave the detainee in police custody.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Civil Line Circle Farhan Aslam, when contacted, said that ASF handed over a man to police after recovery of weapon. He said that during investigation it was revealed the arrested man is a cop posted at PS Bannu and he had official pistol. However, the cop was on leave while Rawalpindi police have contacted with Station House Officer (SHO) PS Bannu Imran Khan for further verification about the arrest cop. “The cop is in police custody and being interrogated,” the DSP said.
