LAHORE - An accountability court yesterday extended the remand of Hammad Arshad and Brigadier (r) Khalid Nazir Butt allegedly involved in Rs 16 billion DHA land scam with directions to NAB officials to come up with reference against the suspects on next hearing, May 21.

NAB officials arrested Hammad Arshad and Brig (r) Khalid Nazir after receiving thousands of applications against both the suspects in which people accusing them of billions of rupees fraud in DHA City scam.

The NAB officials alleged that Hammad Arshad, CEO of Globaco, had secured a contract from DHA-EME in 2009 to acquire 25,000 kanals land for the establishment of DHA City.

They said the company did not acquire the agreed land and issued allotment letters and collected around Rs15.47 billion from public. The suspect was accused of transferring the amount to his personal accounts and using the same for other business, they told the judge.

The officials also alleged that Brig (r) Khalid Nazir Butt, former project director of DHA City, was accused of signing a vague contract with Globaco Company.

They said Butt allowed the Globaco to launch the project without acquisition of land and getting the master plan approved from the executive board of DHA.
