ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Deputy Speaker, Faisal Karim Kundi, Saturday said that Pakistan and Cuba enjoyed cordial relations and both countries have similar views on major regional and global issues. He expressed these views while talking to the Deputy Foreign Minister of Cuba, Marcos F. Rodrigues Costa, who called on him here at Parliament House. He expressed desire to further strengthen the existing relations through enhancing parliamentary and economic ties between the two countries. The Deputy Speaker said that parliament in Pakistan was vibrant and all the democratic institutions in the country were functioning smoothly. He said that the present parliament in Pakistan has adopted unanimous resolutions on all vital issue of national importance. He apprised the visiting Deputy Foreign Minister about the parliamentary practices, committee system, women parliamentary caucus and youth parliamentary forum. The Deputy Speaker underlined the need for greater exchange of parliamentary delegations. He appreciated Cubas generous relief assistance for the October, 2005 earthquake affectees and Cuban assistance for the Pakistani students in health education. Deputy Foreign Minister of Cuba, Marcos F. Rodrigues Costa has said that Pakistan and Cuban relations were established 50 years ago. He said that Cuba wanted to further strengthening its relations with Pakistan. He said that both the countries needed to enhance cooperation in trade, economic and other sectors through the parliamentarians of both the countries. He proposed establishment Pak- Cuban friendship groups in the parliaments of both the countries. While appreciating the performance of Pakistan students studying in Cuba, he assured the Deputy Speaker that Cuba will continue all kind of assistance and support to the Pakistani students studying there.
