LAHORE - Director Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Zafar Qureshi, who was transferred from his office a few days back, is likely to resume his duties in couple of days, said well placed sources in the FIA on Sunday. Sources claimed differences between the federal government and the FIA over arrest of the former federal minister had been settled down. As the case was registered on orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, so it would be proceeded as per law. Generally people perceived that Director Zafar Qureshi was transferred only for the reason that he had arrested former minister Habib Ullah Waraich against the will of the federal government. An FIA officer seeking anonymity said efforts from high-ups were still underway to prevent the inquiry into the National Insurance Corporation (NIC) scam, which involved embezzlement of Rs One to 1.5 billions. He said all this was being done to save the former minister and a son of a VVIP and transfer of Director Zafar Qureshi was also part of this game. Sources disclosed that Zafar Qureshi was also offered promotion for not conducting inquiry but on his refusal he was sent transferred. It is worth mentioning here that Zafar Qureshi had got warrants of Ayaz Niazi, a main accused of the NIC scam. According to the findings of Zafar Qureshi, former minister was involved in appointment of Ayaz Niazi as Manager in a Night Club in Dubai. The accused, former minister, was ready to pay the looted amount in instalments but the FIA did not agree to it as the case was being proceeded on orders of the Supreme Court.
