LAHORE The renowned business community leader and president of All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran Haji Maqs-ood Butt passed away on Sunday morning after a protracted illness. Haji Maqsood, the former adviser to Punjab chief minister was suffering from liver problem and was admitted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital 20 days ago. On Sunday morning, his condition became serious and he passed away at the age of 66. His body was shifted to his residence at 21-H Model Town. However his funeral ceremony was held at his old residence at Said Mittha Bazaar, inside Texali Gate. A large number of people including several dignitar-ies attended his funeral prayer . Haji Maqsood left behind him three sons, one daughter and a widow. He started his political career some 40 years back when he became general secretary of Shah Alam Market of Lahore. He was elected to provincial assembly for four time and also remained adviser to Punjab Chief Minister. He was an active leader of the PML-N as well as a close aide of Nawaz Sharif. Traders community of the city has announced to close all business centres and markets on Monday to mourn the death of their leader. The LCCI office-bearers and the Executive Committee members have expressed their deep sense of sorrow over the sudden demise of Haji Maqsood Butt, father of LCCI Executive Committee Member Shahid Maqsood Butt. Condolence PML-Q chief, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, senior central leaders Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Chaudhry Moonis Elahi have expressed their deep sorrow and grief over the sad demise of president Anju-man Tajran Pakistan, Haji Maqsood Butt. In a condolence message on Sunday, the PML-Q leaders have also prayed for the departed soul. In another condolence message, the PML-Q leaders have expressed their deep grief over the sad demise of religious scholar, Alhaj Mushtaq Ahmed. The PML-Q leaders in their message to family of Alhaaj Mushtaq Ahmed said that services of the late religious scholar for Islam could never be forgotten.
