MIRPURKHAS - Scores of peasants of village Wali Muhammad Bhurgari held a demonstration here outside the National Press Club on Tuesday at Kot Ghulam Muhammad to protest against what they alleged attempts by their opponents to spoil their case.

Led by Bheel, Mashooque Khaskheli and Basheer Khanzada, the protestors were carrying banners and placards in their hands and were raising slogans against Zubair Kumhar and his relatives. Talking to media persons, the protesters alleged that their sugar cane crop sown over two-and-a-half acre was burnt to ashes by Zubair Kumhar and others on Oct 21.

They added that the case was lodged with Kot Ghulam Muhammad (KGM) police station and police even arrested one of the main accused, Zubair Kumhar. But later relatives of these criminals indulged in their (peasants) media trial in order to ensure their release, they alleged.

The protestors lamented that due to burning of their crops they had to suffer the loss of millions of rupees. They demanded the higher authorities ensure strict punishment to those nominated in the FIR.
