LAHORE Cleanliness of houses closed since long in the revenue limit of Gulberg Town will be made under the law and local people immediately contact with the town administration regarding removal of filth and stagnant water from the affected areas. These decisions were made in a meeting of Gulberg Town, presided over by Mian Mohsin Latif MPA, here on Friday. It was attended by MPA Nighat Sheikh, Member Chief Ministers Inspection Team Tahir Yousaf, DIG Special Branch Shahid Hanif, Administrator Irfan Memon and TMO Faisal Shahzad besides other officers of various departments. Chairman directed committee to start survey of those houses remaining closed for a long time as these were the ideal breeding places for dengue mosquito and people for identification of those houses must cooperate with the town administration as well. He warned that owners of tyre-shops should not keep tyres at open places or outside of their shops after cleaning them during dengue campaign. Violation in this regard, the concerned shops will be sealed, he added. The meeting was decided to start a special campaign for the disposal of solid waste and removal of stagnant water from railways colonies of union councils No 31, 32, 75 and 76. Moreover, special steps are being taken for the elimination of larva being found from the areas of Washing Line and Railway Dry Port and anti-dengue spray is also being made on priority basis in these areas. Seminar: Urban Community Development Project-9 will hold a seminar on Role of Youth in Campaign against Dengue Fever on October 8, 2011 at 11:00am at Govt. College for Teachers of Deaf, 40-T, Gulberg-II. MPA Nighat Sheikh, Provincial Secretaries of Social Welfare and Special Education, Principal Govt. College for Teachers of Deaf Shahzad Bhutta and other experts would address the seminar. Moreover, MPAs Mian Mohsin Latif and Nighat Sheikh in connection with dengue awareness campaign will visit Meat Market and its suburban areas of Union Council 75. They will review the cleanliness steps taken by the town administration and will also distribute pamphlets of dengue campaign. New project: Member Provincial Assembly and Co-Chairman Samanabad Town Emergency Response Committee for Dengue Hafiz Mian Muhammad Nauman has said that planning is under way to launch a new project to curb dengue virus like Malaria Eradication Programme. The project will remain functional till complete eradication of dengue. He was presiding over a meeting about dengue in Samanabad Town, here on Friday. Member Provincial Assembly Hafiz Mian Muhammad Nauman said that long term planning is needed for the eradication of dengue. He said that keeping in view the seriousness of dengue virus, implementation of the new project has been almost decided. He said that Malaria Eradication Programme was introduced in the past to curb Malaria fever which produced excellent results and due to this programme Malaria was eradicated from the country and now to work on the same lines has become the need of the hour. Co-Chairman Samanabad Town Emergency Response Committee Hafiz Mian Muhammad Nauman directed the officers of concerned departments and town administration to gear up their efforts to get rid of dengue and pay more heed to make public awareness campaign about dengue a success. He directed the Entomologists to point out possible places of larvae or dengue and speed up their efforts to curb dengue. He also ordered to address the public complaints and told that fogging work is being done in Union Council No 108.
